Jeffrey Lee Pierce – Love & Desperation (1985)

Tras el tercer álbum de The Gun Club The Las Vegas Story (1984), su líder y cantante Jeffrey Lee Pierce se toma un año sabático y se instala en Londres. Allí grabará el álbum Wildweed (1985), un trabajo más melódico y accesible producido por Craig Leon, quien anteriormente ha trabajado con Ramones, Suicide, Blondie y Richard Hell. Abre el disco el tema Love & Desperation, que traslada el habitual imaginario de Pierce hacia terrenos disco y ska, y que saldrá como single junto al spoken word The Fertility Goddess y la oscura Portrait Of The Artist In Hell. Tras este paréntesis Jeffrey Lee Pierce retornará a Estados Unidos para reformar a The Gun Club y sacar el disco Mother Juno (1987).
